The Ganjam district committee of the All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) on Thursday staged a dharna in front of the Khallikote Junior College here protesting shifting of the college’s campus to Raghunathpur on the outskirts of the city.
If the Government shifts the college, AIDSO Ganjam district secretary Sibani Shankar Mishra said, students of the junior college would miss an opportunity for easy access to the Central library of the Khallikote Autonomous College.
He said the students would miss the guidance of good teachers and seniors along with exposure to a big campus environment in the heart of the city.
AIDSO State secretariat member Somnath Behera said the State Government should add the land acquired by the OSRTC and Guest House for the junior college instead of shifting it to another place.
Members of the organisation also demanded good infrastructure and teachers to enhance the quality of education of the college.
