The All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) has slammed the authorities of the Ravenshaw University for the hike in fees for various subjects in the undergraduate, postgraduate and self-financing courses.
The course fees for various post graduate courses at the university have been raised by `500 to `5,000. “In this away, around 55 per cent expenditure of the university is being collected from the students. It is a conspiracy to convert the university into a private commercial institution by running the university with the students’ money,” said AIDSO Ravenshaw University Committee president Sibani Sahu at a Press meet here on Tuesday. The body warned that the students’ stir would take a fierce form if the authorities do not withdraw the fee hike decision. Notably, students under the AIDSO had gheraoed the varsity officials and the Vice-Chancellor for 11 hourson Monday protesting the undemocratic and anti-students policy of the authorities.
Among others, committee vice-president Subhasmita Sahu and secretary Amarendra Nayak were present.
