The All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) on Monday strongly protested the decision of appointing a bureaucrat as Registrar of the Ravenshaw University, Cuttack.
AIDSO organiser in Ravenshaw University Tarunsen Nayak said, “It is part of the Government’s attempt to control the university education system.”
Nayak said a teacher only can understand psychology of the students very well, but the bureaucrat cannot. “Educationists have been appointed as Vice-Chancellors and Registrars in the universities, but why the Government is changing the trend,” asked Nayak.
AIDSO members said they would not allow commercialisation of education and would continue to protest appointment of the bureaucrat as Registrar of the Ravenshaw University.
