To press for a series of demands, including complete abolition of PPP system at the Ravenshaw University here, several student leaders under the banner of the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) on Friday launched a signature campaign intending for Governor SC Jamir.

The other demands of the students’ body include collection of fees for self-financing courses on par with other general courses, provision of AICTE tag to all its technical courses, appointment of adequate number of permanent lecturers and provision of infrastructure and hostel facilities.

“Due to PPP system, library and laboratories of self-financing courses are under the authority of private organisations that create hurdles in the study of students,” alleged Students’ Union vice-president Shibani Sahoo. The student leaders have threatened to stage intense agitation in coming days to press for their demands.
