The Maha Bodhi Society of India, Odisha Branch distributed dry food items to over 200 poor people here on the occasion of the 2,564th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha here.
At the outset, a low-key programme was oranised for the birth anniversary celebration at Buddha Temple here. Buddhist monks Ashaji Thero, Dharmahoka, branch president Dr Bimalendu Mohanty, secretary-cum-central trustee Sourendra Kumar Mohapatra, national vice-president Dr Aryakumar Jnanendra and central members Namrata Chadha, Jagabandhu Jena and Anil Dhir prayed Buddha for safety of the humanity from the coronavirus.
Thereafter, dry food items were distributed to poor people. Among others, former local Corporator Debashish Singh, Bijayalaxmi Mohapatra and Budhia Didi coordinated in distribution work. Sutra recitation was conducted again at the temple for world peace.
