The case of the drunken woman, who was arrested by the Kharavel Nagar police for abusing them when they rescued her while she was lying in a footpath at Kharavel Nagar on Sunday night, took a new turn on Tuesday.
The police during investigation found out that she was allegedly part of a high-profile sex racket and living in an apartment at Patia and is an Uzbekistani national. Meanwhile, the police have sealed her flat and arrested the house caretaker.
The caretaker during interrogation revealed to the police that he knows the identity of a person who brought the woman to the city. The police are trying to contact the Uzbekistan Embassy in New Delhi to ascertain further details.
Sources also said the police are trying to ascertain if the woman has any links with the notorious pimp Sunil Meher, who had earlier also brought a foreign sex worker, who was arrested by police.
The police during verification on Monday had found the Uzbekistani woman possessed an Aadhaar card bearing name of Duniya Khan from lajpat Nagar, South Delhi. But police suspect the Aadhaar card to be a fake one. Cash of about Rs 50,000, a bottle of liquor and a mobile phone were recovered from her possession.
