In a shocking incident, a drunken man, Sogaram Lahara, sold his seven-month-old son for just Rs 10,000 at Burja village under the Umarkote police limits in Nabarangpur district on Tuesday.
The incidence came to the fore when wife of Sogaram reported the matter to the police. Acting on her complaint, the police detained Sogaram and interrogated him.
During the interrogation, Sogaram confessed that he sold his son because of poverty and informed about the child’s buyer. “We have rescued the child and further investigations are on,” said the Umarkote police station IIC.
