Drunkard teacher suspended in J’pur

A drunken teacher of the Balia Primary School under Jajpur district’s Sukinda block was suspended on Thursday for allegedly making students kneel down after they raised voice against him as to why he was coming to the school in an inebriated condition.

The incidence came to light after a video of the incident went viral on social media. It showed that the teacher, Makaranda Mohant, punished around 30 students on the village road. As some parents intervened, Mohant sat near the students and told one of them to take his photo.

When contacted, Jajpur District Education Officer (DEO) Krushna Chandra Nayak said, “After knowing about the incident. I had directed the Block Education Officer to conduct an investigation. On his report, the drunken teacher was suspended.”
