The residents of certain pockets here are spending sleepless nights as several antisocials are moving with deadly weapons in their hands in the absence of police patrolling in city.
Some eyewitnesses said miscreants were seen moving in groups under inebriated condition with swords and Mausers in hand in areas like Ramalingam Tank Road, Hotel Moti-Congress Office Square, Corporation Road and Sai Complex lane on Sunday night.
“I was scared to see the frequent movement of drunkards in two-three groups with swords and guns at Sai Complex-DAV School Road area at around 9.30 pm last night,” said a city resident on condition of anonymity.
Some senior citizens have alleged that the police have turned callous towards their security. “I have seen many times that the police do not question the miscreants talking suspiciously in groups at isolated areas while blocking roads,” said a senior citizen in Gandhinagar area. The locals have demanded that police patrolling be expedited soon in the city during nights.
