The Government would set up a Drug Testing laboratory here with its own funds soon. The Health Secretary informed this to Ganjam district Collector Prem Chandra Choudhury in a letter recently.
Official sources said the Drugs Testing laboratory has been proposed to be set up here as the State’s lone laboratory at Bhubaneswar, which has the capacity to conduct 4,896 tests annually, is over loaded now. the proposed laboratory would have the capacity to conduct 5,000 tests per annuam. The Health Secretary has also asked the Collector to identify an acre of land at a suitable place for the same purpose. Another such laboratory would also be set up at Gothapatna on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
