Drought: BJP Kissan Morcha chief in State

Published on:

The BJP Kissan Morcha national president Bijay Pal Singh Tomar and party national office secretary Sambhu Kumar on Tuesday arrived in the State on a two-day visit to take stock of the impending drought situation.

After arriving at the BJP State party office here, Tomar met some farmers and farmer leaders coming from various parts of State. He would visit some districts like Khordha, Puri and Nayagarh to take stock of the situation individually. He is scheduled to interact with mediapersons on Wednesday at party office on the issue.

Slamming Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for seeking reports from the Collectors on drought situation within seven days, the party suggested Patnaik and Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy to visit the affected districts instead of sitting in Bhubaneswar.

“The Government was in deep slumber. Only after our Press conference and meeting with the Governor on the drought issue, the Government swung into action,” said a Press release issued by the saffron party.

The party also suggested Patnaik to go by roads instead choppers during his party’s padayatra programme at least to see the plight of farmers.
