The Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) and the district administration jointly conducted an enforcement drive at different places in the city on Thursday against illegal parking of vehicles, breach of fire safety norms and encroachment.
A team led by Brahmapur Sub-Collector Siddhartha Sankar Swain and BeMC Commissioner Chakravarti Singh Rathore conducted raids at Gandhimagar, Khallikote College Square, New Bus Stand and other areas and took stock of the traffic problems, fire safety norms and encroachment by different commercial establishments.
In the team Brahmapur Tehsildar Ranjit Parida, the Additional Tehsildar, the police personnel, the BeMC officials and the concerned department officials were present.
On the other hand, the traffic cops intensified the drive against the violators of traffic rules in different parts of the city.
As many as 402 bikers were fined for violating norms like driving without helmet, drunken and rash driving etc. Eight VCRs were pressed into service.
