The Brahmapur traffic police launched a drive against illegal parking in the city on Wednesday. Traffic DSP Thakur Prasad Patro initiated the programme. Offenders, who were parking their vehicles in the restricted zones, were fined Rs 500 each. Their vehicles were also lifted with the help of a crane. Cars, trucks and buses are to be brought under the purview of this drive, said Patro. Illegal parking of vehicles, especially the heavy vehicles, on busy roads, remains a major concern for the police. The crane would lift the vehicles from the no-parking zones, he added. The police have collected fine from 17 parking violators till Thursday. The crane lifted the vehicles from the old bus-stand, Annapurnna Market and other areas.
