The Union Ministry of Labour and State Employees Insurance, Government of Odisha and the Department of Labor, Jajpur jointly launched a "child labor prevention awareness Rath" on Friday in the premises of the Jajpur District Commissioner's office.
Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Akshay Kumar Mallick flagged off the chariot and said it would travel around Jajpur, alerting the people who employ children as labourers besides raising awareness among the common public.
An awareness rally was later held to prevent child labour. It was attended by members of the district trade union, Child line workers, volunteers and common mass.
District Child Welfare Committee Chairman Ritanjali Behera, Assistant Labor Officer Chita Ranjan Raut, District Child Protection Officer Niranjan Kar, Rural Labor Inspector Sanjit Kumar Deo and Child Welfare Committee senior member Dr Rudra Narayan Prusti among others were present.
