Photography, an expensive hobby, is now getting popular among the young generation. It is clear at the lalit Kala Akademi here in the ongoing photography exhibition, entitled Drishtiraaga 2015. It has been organised by photography club, Mushroom.

A total of 70 members of the club displayed 140 frames on a variety of subject lines like nature, wildlife, street, candid, portraits, travel and landscape. Photos of some veterans were also exhibited.

A click ‘Home’ by the veteran photographer PC Dhir was a crowd puller. The composition and the colour combination of the snap was mind blowing. A mud house of two different colours like black and red and a goat sitting in the corridor was nicely framed.

Jitendra Pati’s ‘The Asset’ is explaining a Sadhu’s asset that is his long unkempt hair. “At the time of Ganga Snana during Makar Sankranti in West Bengal, I captured the snap,” Jitendra said. The photo is in silhouette genre. Another snap by Jitendra was ‘After Sunset,’ where a group of camels was returning in Pushkar.

The objective behind organising such an exhibition is promotion of photography, said founder of the club Sumon Sinha. The exhibition also motivates the young generation who can know about different genres of photography by exchanging and sharing new ideas among themselves, he added. He also said, through the exhibition, an amateur photographer can know about his specialization in photography.

Sumon exhibited scenery of Chilika and a close up snap of an owl captioned ‘Fishing Together’ and ‘Night Queen’, respectively.

Swati Mohapatra’s ‘Heaven on Earth’ and ‘Flemingo’ also pulled the attention of visitors, which she has captured in Kathmandu and Chilika.

The seven-day exhibition, inaugurated by SBI, Odisha Circle CGM Krishna Mohan Trivedi and Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Secretary Dhirendranath Mallick on Tuesday, will conclude on February 23.
