Girl students of the Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya here on Saturday brought allegation against their drama teacher for sexually harassing them.
Reports said third year girl students of the Drama department of the premier music and drama institute lodged a sexual harassment case against teacher Sukesh Kumar Panda of the same department at the Kharavel police station. In their FIR, the girls alleged the teacher was sexually harassing them passing lewd remarks at them during classes. They also said the teacher had been misusing his position and using vulgar language at them for quite some time.
“The teacher has been using abuses which have become unbearable for us... I have not been able to speak out so far to avoid the embarrassment,” said a girl student. She said they had brought the issue before the College principal two months ago, but the authorities did not respond to them. The teacher was not available for comments. Notably, the teacher had been suspended in 2008 on similar charges.
