Mobility is as essential as food,” says Physiotherapist Dr Anant Singh.
Physiotherapy is sometimes overlooked by patients and they go for different treatments, but Physiotherapy is scientifically proven to be one of the most effective ways to treat and prevent pain and injury. It strengthens muscles and improves function.
City’s Physiotherapist Dr Anant Singh shared some facts about physiotherapy and cases that he solved during his practice with The Pioneer to tell how Physiotherapy is the best treatment to heal any injury. Dr Anant Singh is one of the best Physiotherapists in Bhopal. Practicing Physiotherapy for 10 years, he is a qualified MPTh/ MPT. He is currently associated with Physio Consultant in AYUSH Department, Gove-rnment of Madhya Pradesh.
While talking to The Pioneer he said, “I believe that movement is as important as food for the body. A person can stay hungry without eating food for a week or 10 days but mobility is very much important. The joints, bones, muscles get freezed if not taken care of.”
Elaborating further he said that Physiotherapy is basically the science of diagnosing and treating injuries or diseases by using mostly physical means. Main aim is to reduce pain and minimise dysfunction by using evidence based techniques. Physiotherapy encompasses all areas of the lifespan from infants to elderly in areas such as musculoskeletal, orthopaedics, rheumatology, respiratory, neurology, sports injuries and women’s and men’s health.
Now here Physiotherapist plays the vital role, added Dr Singh. “If we tell patients that you will be treated with exercise, then the patients react in a very different manner. The exercises that are conducted by a physiotherapist are not the usual ones, but they are prescribed especially for the patients dealing with injuries,” he added.
Physical therapy is used to improve a patient's quality of life through examination, diagnosis, prognosis, physical intervention, and patient education. It is performed by physical therapists.
“The major role that we play in somebody’s life is to bring back those old days where they were absolutely fit and were able to do any task,” said. On asking about how he deals with the patients having a mental trauma after a major injury, Dr Singh simply said, “We train their brain to be confident and positive. Of course it takes a lot of time, but this is what is required to treat the patient. If the mind is not confident, then the patient will think that he or she will never be able to move. We have to treat that mindset to bring the patients back to normal.”
He explained it by sharing case of a lady.
