The Odisha Campaign for Protection of land and Mineral Resources on Monday demanded a CBI probe into the land and flat allotment scam made under the discretionary quota (DQ) in the State. “The State Government’s decision to cancel all DQ allotments and go in for a Vigilance probe into the multiple allotments is an attempt to refurbish the BJD Government’s image and also to cover up a huge scam.
The Taradatta-led Taskforce report on the DQ allotments has also failed to expose the scam entirely as the BDA, CDA and State Housing Board did not provide the required documents to the Taskforce,” alleged Campaign coordinator and rights activist Pradip Pradhan. “Hence, we demanded that the State Government recommend a CBI probe into the DQ allotments made since 1980,” he said.
“Since a large number of politicians have availed the plots/flats illegally by submitting false affidavits, the concerned political parties should dismiss such leaders from their forums to set an example,” said Pradhan. He also demanded criminal proceedings against the multiple allottees and against those who have made allotments to them.
The rights activist alleged that the Government has announced a Vigilance probe into the allotments under the BDA, CDA and OSHB while conspicuously leaving out the allotments made by the GA Department asking for a special audit to protect the Chief Minister.
