Even after 25 days of her lodging an FIR against six persons for dowry torture on her, local police have failed to arrest the accused, said victim Santosini Mallick and threatened to launch a stir against the deliberate police inaction in front of the office of the Superintendent of Police here.
It may be recalled Santosini had lodged the FIR on March 23 alleging several kinds of torture on her by her in-laws, including senior IPS officer Gopabandhu Mallick and his wife Bhabani Mallick. “I waited for about 25 days, yet police didn’t arrest anyone so far. I have information that Gopabandhu Mallick and his wife have obtained bail. The other accused have been left willfully by the police. So, I have decided to sit on an indefinite hunger strike most likely by end of this week,” Santosini informed.
