The police at Bargarh arrested a senior engineer of Wesco Debashis Dash for dowry torture to his wife Mamata Panda. Dash was torturing his wife both physically and mentally, as is alleged in an FIR filed by her. Mamata, a resident of Bhubaneswar, stays at Bargarh with her husband.
Mamata married Debashis eight years back, but from day one of the wedding he was forcing his wife to bring more money from his father’s house and was even beating her mercilessly, the FIR said.
“After getting allegation from the lady, we arrested Debashis and forwarded him to court, which has rejected his bail petition,” informed IIC of Bargarh police station Arjun Sahu.
