Following dowry torture allegation by the daughter-in-law of a local BJP leader, the Rourkela Mahila police have arrested the accused husband and mother-in-law, and have forwarded them to court.
She has also leveled allegation of torture for more dowry against four more persons from her in-laws side, including two daughters and one son-in-law of the BJP leader.
Sources said that Manas Satapathy (30), the son of Bipin Satapathy, a senior BJP leader and resident of Sector-7 area here, had married to lopamudra Das, a resident of Old Station Road here, 2 years ago.
As per the FIR lodged by lopamudra, after marriage she was regularly being subjected to torture at her in-laws’ house for more dowry. Acting on the FIR, the Mahila police apprehended both the mother-in-law Arati Satapathy (62) and husband Manas Satapathy from the Capital and brought them to Rourkela on Monday. Both accused were forwarded to court on Tuesday.
