leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Narasingha Mishra while campaigning for Congress candidates for the April 1 Belpahar municipality elections on Saturday urged the people not to vote for the BJP and the BJD.
He said Nathuram Godse, the killer of the Father of the Nation, has been considered as desh bhakt (patriot) by BJP leaders, which is utterly shameful and anti-patriotism. Those who vote for the BJP would be considered as traitors, he said. Mishra also criticised the Naveen Patnaik regime of 15 years for failing to fulfil the minimum requirement of this region. Mishra took part in a Padyatra seeking public support for the Congress candidates.
Jharsuguda Congress MlA Naba Kishore Das, former Assembly Speaker Kishore Patel, District Congress president BS Pati and Youth Congress president Eswar Rao also attended the campaign. With the civic body polls nearing, campaigning by the Congress, the BJD and the BJP is in full swing at Belpahar.
