'Don't register fabricated cases against NKS activists'

The Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS), a farmer body, urged Chief Secretary GC Pati on Wednesday to direct the police to withdraw cases falsely registered against their NKS members and activists in a murder case. NKS State Coordinator Akshay Kumar said the police have arrested Susant Kumar Mohanty and searching for Gyanranjan Nayak, both working in the NKS and Gandhian organisations, following the murder of one Susant Bhol of Paika Barabati village under the Narasinghapur police limits in Cuttack district on March 10.

“The police are yet to arrest main accused of the murder case Susant Biswal. Instead of arresting Susant Biswal, the police have arrested Susant Mohanty which is not acceptable,” said Kumar. He said both Nayak, a lawyer by profession, and Mohanty were active members of the farmer organisation and have their own social organisations. “As the duo is working for total prohibition in the State, some liquor mafias and other people might have used the police and the situation to take revenge,” Kumar added. Kumar said they would hit the street if the State doesn’t take any steps to withdraw false cases against the duo.
