Concerned over the killing of five Indian soldiers in an ambush along the disputed border in Jammu and Kashmir by the Pakistani Army, a delegation of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and Bharat Raksha Manch on Tuesday met Governor SC Jamir here and submitted a memorandum to him for onward transmission to President Pranab Mukherjee.
The memorandum urged the President to exercise his powers as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces to ensure that such brutalities by the Pakistani Army are not repeated. The delegation demanded that the Union Government do not allow Pakistani artists and cricketers to perform in India due to the hostile actions of Pakistan against India. It also demanded closure of the High Commission of Pakistan in India and withdrawal of the Indian envoy and other diplomatic staff from Pakistan.
The memorandum also pleaded against any talks with Pakistan until that country gives an assurance that such inhuman acts will not be repeated. These atrocities and terrorist activities should be brought to the international fora and Pakistan should be proclaimed as a terrorist country, the memorandum said. This apart, the delegation urged all nationalist organisations and parties to come together to condemn this dastardly Pakistani act. The delegation comprised Prakash Malondkar and Vinayak Shanbag of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and Anil Dhir, Satish Satapathy and Kamalakanta Bastia of the Bharat Raksha Manch.
