Hundreds of Dongria Kondh andha and Jharania Kondh tribals under the banner of the Niyamgiri Suraksha Samiti burnt copies of the land Acquisition Ordinance, recently circulated by the Narendra Modi Government at Niyamgiri hills in Kalahandi district on Sunday.
The tribals and anti-displacement activists of the Niyamgiri Samiti, who joined the three-day annual Niyam Raja Parab summit at the hills, resolved that they would continue to protest against the ‘pro-corporate’ Ordinance till it is withdrawn. The activists also declared a State-wide campaign against the Ordinance.
Simultaneously, copies of the Ordinance were also burnt by many people’s organisations at various places across the State to strengthen their opposition to the Centre’s move.
