Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday urged the party MPs and MLAs to donate their one-month salary towards party fund to shoulder the huge expenditure to be incurred during the upcoming elections.
Patnaik urged the party Legislators and Parliamentarians to donate their one-month salary in cheques to the BJD fund.
He asked the BJD district presidents to request the party's well-wishers and supporters, who want to help in raising funds, to donate to the party through cheque or online at www.bjdodisha.org.in/donation. Further, they have been asked to add 200 new members to the party in every panchayat and ward level.
Patnaik also mentioned that the donations made by individuals to the BJD would be tax-free as per the Section 80GGC of Income Tax Act 1961-2017. He also made it clear that there is no certain limit of donations and contributions to the party.
“The police beat our workers mercilessly and arrested many of them though stones were not pelted by them. The stones were actually pelted by some outsiders that the police administration should find out,” Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh said.
Such small incidents were not out of ordinary and it was beyond the strength of the leadership to control such large crowds, Ghosh said apparently not doing any good to his party’s case seeking judicial permission for triple Rath Yatras that have been denied by the State Government apprehending law and order and communal tension.
The BJP has been staging civil disobedience rallies throughout the State against the State Government’s denial of permission of the Rath Yatra. Though the party got a favourable order in the Single Bench of Calcutta High Court that okayed the yatra, the order was set aside by the Division Bench.
