A loyal dog laid down its life to protect its master’s family from attack of a cobra.
The male dog ‘Laden’ died of snakebite after saving its master’s two little children. The incident was reported from Janla on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Tuesday evening.
The two grandchildren of the dog’s owner Sunil Krushna Samantray were playing under the portico of their house and the pet was tied with a chain. The family members were also sitting there. The 5-feet-long venomous snake entered into the front yard. After seeing it, the family shouted with fear and the two children cried.
Without any delay, the fastened Laden jumped over the snake and wrestled to overpower it. The dog gnawed the cobra to death, but the pet also collapsed.
The family members, who were watching the scene, rushed to check the condition of Laden. However, stung by the snake, the dog too died soon later.
