A local retired Government doctor was arrested for allegedly aborting a seven-month-old foetus of an unmarried14-year-old tribal girl of Nandahandi, Sub-Divisional Police Officer UC Nayak said on Saturday.
The main accused, Aswini Kumar Sarangi, of Nandahandi under the Nabarangpur police limits, is the lover of the minor girl. In the pretext of to marry her, he kept illegitimate relation with her and when the girl became pregnant, he brought her to the
Umarkote clinic of Dr SN Dash for termination of the pregnancy.The girl and her parents alleged that the seven-month-old foetus was killed at the clinic. A case was lodged at the Town police station against Dr SN Dash and two others and in this connection the police arrested Aswini and the doctor, seized an Indigo. The police arrested Dr Dash from his Umarkote residence.He runs his private maternity clinic at Umarkote.
