The VIMSAR Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA), Students’ Union, Sambalpur People’s Forum (SPF) and common people staged dharna on Sunday in front of the office of the medical superintendent protesting the transfer of doctors from the MCH.
They asked the State Government and the medical authorities here not to relieve the doctors without substitutes and warned to intensify the stir.
As per information, 52 doctors of the three Government medical college and hospital (MCHs) of the State were promoted to higher positions of professors, associate professors, assistant professors etc. An option was sought from the doctors as to their preferred place of posting and most of the doctors preferred VIMSAR. Doctors of Burla also preferred VIMSAR as their place of posting and didn’t want to get transferred.
But to the utter surprise of the people and the doctors, these doctors are transferred to other places of the State, including Baripada and Koraput.
“We will never tolerate any injustice to VIMSAR,” warned Sanjit Mohanty of SPF. The agitators demanded cancellation of the transfer of the doctors from VIMSAR with immediate effect.
“We will inform the demand of the people and the students to the State Government,” informed VIMSAR medical superintendent Dr Braja Mohan Mishra. He also admitted the problem that would be created due to transfer of the doctors from VIMSAR without substitutes.
