Docs' transfer: BJP holds bandh at Burla

Published on:

The BJP on Monday observed a 12-hour bandh at Burla protesting the transfer of doctors from the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR).

The BJP workers demanded withdrawal of the mass transfer of doctors.

As the common people in the western Odisha depend on the Burla medical college and hospital, the mass transfer of doctors to different locations including Brahmapur, Baripada and Koraput would affect the healthcare service at the Burla medical, the BJP alleged.

The protest would be intensified if the transfer orders are not withdrawn immediately, the protesters warned.

The VIMSAR Junior Doctors’ Association also joined the protest. When there is an acute shortage of doctors at the VIMSAR, the mass transfer of the doctors from the hospital would affect the health service here, the association said.
