Docs boycott OPDs; stir in capital on August 1

Government doctors under the fold of the Odisha Medical Service Association (OMSA) on Sunday abstained from providing services at Outdoor Patient Departments (OPDs) in all the Government hospitals to press for fulfillment of their multiple demands, including execution of Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP).

However, the doctors attended emergency duties, informed OMSA general secretary Kishore Chandra Mishra.

“Despite repeated requests, the State Government is yet to implement the DACP, which assures better career options for doctors. Similarly, our demands for regularization of ad hoc doctors, reconstitution of OMSA cadre and fixation of duty hours have remained unheeded for long,” lamented Mishra. He said, as per a prior decision, the OMSA doctors kept away from providing services at OPDs on Sunday and would do so on the next three Sundays of July.

“If the Government doesn’t fulfil the demands by last July-end, the doctors will take leave en-masse and resort to an agitation in Bhubaneswar on August 1,” said Mishra.
