In a case of medical negligence, a doctor cut the ureter of a woman while performing tubectomy on her at the Daspalla Community Health Centre (CHC) in the district on Tuesday.
Sources said a woman of Ward-16 in Daspalla NAC was admitted to the CHC on the day for undergoing tubectomy. On completion of the surgery, a doctor Naba Kumar Sahu implanted an artificial ureter in her body. When her family members asked about it, the doctor confessed that he cut the ureter of the patient by mistake during the surgery.
Angry over this, irate family and relatives of the woman created a ruckus in the hospital and asked the doctor concerned to bear all medical expense of the woman. Later, the family brought the matter to the notice of police.
The situation further worsened after the doctor refused to discharge the woman from the hospital. The irate family members and relative blocked the National Highway-57 near the CHC. They withdrew the road blockade after police reached the spot and pacified them.
Later, the woman was later shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack for further treatment.
