In an unusual incident, a doctor allegedly attempted suicide by slitting his throat after a woman patient, who had undergone treatment at his clinic, died at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here on Tuesday.
Sources said labanga Sahu, the deceased woman of Banabasapali village on the outskirts of Bargarh town, had come to Dr Subodh Sahu’s clinic at Bandhutikara as she suffered toothache.
The doctor administered her an injection, following which her condition became critical and she was admitted to the DHH, where she died while undergoing treatment.
After her death, the panic-stricken doctor slit his throat at his clinic in the presence of police. He was initially admitted to the DHH and later shifted to the VIMSAR in Burla after his condition deteriorated.
