The Dhenkanal district’s Bhuban police arrested one Bharati Guru (45) of Jharada village on Saturday on the charge of stealing jewellery from a Durga temple at Dayanabila village near the Damsala Nala on Friday.
Bharati, who resides with her husband at Bhuban, went to the temple on the pretext of worshipping the goddess and later removed a gold necklace of around 25 grams from the neck of the deity. After that, she fled from the place as a pillion rider of a two-wheeler. However, the stolen jewellery has not been recovered from the woman so far.
