In a bid to appeal to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for approval of the Baitarani Elephant Preservation project, villagers of Kandabindha in Dhenkanal district held a procession on Monday at the concluding ceremony of the two-day annual Chaitra Purnima festival in the village.
Wildlife activist Bijoy Dash told The Pioneer that the Baitarani Elephant Preservation project has been envisaged to bring an end to the long lingering man-elephant conflict in the State.
Dash further claimed that execution of the project will help in protecting lives of both elephants and human beings besides avoiding damage of crops and houses by pachyderms.
