Villagers under leadership of Bhusal Mines Khyatigrastha Praja Sangharsha Samiti convenor Debashisha Hota met Dhenkanal SP Basanta Kumar Panigrahi and ADM Jyoti Ranjan Pradhan urging an immediate halt of illegal mining work at Asurabandha in Bhuban.
They demanded fulfillment of an eight-point charter of demands. They threatened a stir if the demands were ignored.
Notably, thousands of villagers of Bhushal have been complaining before the Dhenkanal administration against illegal mining work at Asurabandha. About 15 days back, a few hooligans forcibly tried to construct road in farm lands of the villagers, when the locals protested.
The goons with local police threatened the villagers of dire consequences if they continue protest. Notably, no notification has been made for acquisition of land for mining in the village, nor has any compensation been given in lieu of the land.
