Jhargadia-based Reliance Synthetics machine purchaser Sai Shyam Associates gave Rs10.64 lakh to 112 employees of the Reliance plant after executing a bi-party agreement in presence of union leader Debashisha Hota.
The rest 60 employees will be given compensation of Rs5.70 lakh in coming days, Hanuman Khedaria, owner of Sai Shyam Associates, assured.
In the agreement, it has been mentioned that the compensation will not hamper re-engagement or any statutory dues or VRS payment that may be paid by Reliance Industries limited. It was also agreed that all the 172 employees will be re-engaged by RIl, when it starts its new plant at Jhargadia.
Here it is noteworthy that on February 26 last, an indefinite hunger strike was started in front of the district Collector’s office by these retrenched workers led by Hota against the illegal transportation of machines from the plant without settling VRS dues.
Collector Roopa Roshan Sahoo had called Hota for a talk and decided to ban the transportation of machines till the VRS dues are settled.
