D'nal synthetic firm workers meet postponed again

The meeting called by the Dhenkanal administration for VRS dues settlement of workers of Reliance Synthetic limited could not take place due to absence of any representative of the company.

The meeting was to be held with legal advisor of Reliance Synthetics Dhenkanal Khyatigrastha Shramik Sangha Debashisha Hota, Reliance Industries ltd Vice President Kartik Mehta and Dhenkanal ADM Judhistir Nayak.

About 295 labourers of the company are waiting their dues to be settled after the company decided for a shutdown. However, since the company has not been showing any interest in it, the issue has remained unresolved. Mehta was deliberately absent for the 2nd time despite repeated notices from the Government on the Friday meeting.

ADM Judhistir Nayak immediately assured of another tri-party meeting on February 6 positively in presence of Mehta after which the Sangha postponed its mass suicide on Friday.

Notably, since May last, the poor employees of the company have approached the Government a number of times for settlement. “We respect the decision of the district administration, but the company management is adamant and not caring for the notices issued by the authorities on a settlement of dues,” said a Sangh member.
