The Karpara Project Engineering Private limited, contractor of the lANCO Babandha Power Project in the district, provided Rs 30,000 compensation for retrenching its staff Anil Kumar Samal of Khadagprasad area.
This followed the intervention in the issue by Conciliation-cum-District labour Officer (DlO) Pradip Mohanty. Trade unionist Debashisha Hota had highlighted the plight of the staffer who was given no benefit after being retrenched by the contract firm and sought immediate intervention of the DlO.
Samal was retrenched in March, 2013 and filed a complaint before the DlO on October 9, 2015. later, when no action was taken to provide justice to Samal, Hota took up the case with DlO Mohanty and later, steps were taken to release the dues from the employer firm.
