In a heartrending incident, a retired Government employee killed his mentally deranged and bedridden son (32), fed up with his long years’ of regular nourishment and later committed suicide at his residence in the district headquarters town here on Saturday wee hours. Sources said Shakti Prasad Acharya, a retired cashier of the NHAI division here, was found dead in hanging condition from his bedroom on Sunday morning. His sick and mentally abnormal son Bidu Prasad’s body was also found there.
Police found the two bodies from Shakti Prasad’s house near the George UP School under Town Police Station limits. Police in their preliminary investigation suspect Shakti Prasad first throttled his son to death using a rope and then hanged himself from his asbestos roof. The incident occurred at about 2 am on Saturday night. Shakti Prasad had retired two years back. He had been taking care of his youngest son Bidu Prasad since the last 20 years.
