Over 1,000 members of the Odisha Bhumihina Praja Samiti under leadership of its State president advocate Debashisha Hota last week took out a huge rally from Master Canteen Square to lower PMG and then held a dharna demanding dismissal of Mines Minister Praffula Mallick.
They pressed for a charter of five demands before Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, including giving land pattas to all poor landless citizens of Odisha, eviction from Government land having sufficient reasons, suspension of Dhenkanal BJD youth president Jashobanta Parida, Kamakhyanagar Sub-Collector and the then Tehsildar Kalpataru Behera, SDPO Seikh Abdul Karim and IIC Pravat Tripathy for not taking action against Parida even after intervention of the district Collector. Most importantly, they demanded dismissal of Minister Mallick from the Cabinet for supporting Parida.
“If the Government doesn’t fulfill all our demands within 15 days, we’ll hold an indefinite strike,” warned Hota.
