DMlT, DMRT institutes sans AICTE nod

The State Government on Thursday announced that the diploma medical laboratory technician (DMlT) and diploma medical radiology technician (DMRT) schools can be opened in the State without the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Those who are interested to open DMlT and DMRT schools can do the same without the AICTE approval. Instead, they will be asked to seek no objections certificates (NOC) from the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department for the purpose, official sources said. To frame guidelines for the purpose, a committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Health Secretary with several members, while the Deputy Secretary of the Health Department will work as its member convenor. Now, only 148 laboratory technicians are working as against the sanctioned 843 and 70 radiology technicians as against 194 posts in the State. On an average, nearly 100 laboratory technician and 25 to 30 radiology technicians are passing out from several Government affiliated institutes annually.
