Ganjam district Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange made a surprise visit to the City Hospital here and took stock of the situation.
During the visit, many irregularities at the hospital came to the fore. The two medicine shops in the hospital premises were closed putting patients and their attendants in great inconvenience.
Kulange expressed displeasure over some equipments lying defunct and the use of polythene in the hospital premises when he saw some shopkeepers using them.
He advised the doctors to take proper care of the patients, who are coming from distant places.
The Collector urged the patients to avoid agents and middlemen and also suggested to the hospital authorities to take ruthless action against such persons.
Kulange also interacted with the patients pertaining to the problems they faced at the hospital and the quality of services offered.
Among others, City Hospital CDMO Dr Bijay Kumar Panigrahi, Hospital Superintendent Dr P Kumege, DPM Dr Shyam Sundar Tripathy and other senior officials were present.
