DM asked to dismantle Naveen images in city

Acting on a complaint filed by Utkala Bikasha Parisad (UBP), State Election Commissioner (SEC) Ajit Kumar Tripathy on Thursday directed the Khurda district Collector to remove cutouts and hoardings of BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The SEC has also asked him to dismantle BJD flags being displayed between Naveen Niwas and AG square on the ground that it goes against the model code of conduct enforced for January 8 Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls.

“The BJD has openly violated the poll conduct by installing big hoardings, posters and banners showing images of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and party election symbol ‘Conch’ between Naveen Niwas and AG Square in the name of celebrating its foundation day,” said Parisad president Debiprasad Prusti.

Prusti stated that the SEC taking a serious view on the complaint directed the Khurda Collector to remove these immediately.
