Internationally acclaimed scuba diver Sabir Bux along with his six team members, including a girl, on Tuesday dived into the Bay of Bengal near Penthakata in Puri and explored the underwater fauna in the sea. The team comprised Phalguni Rout, Niranjan Mishra, Chandan Das, Khagaswar Barik, Master D Sekhar Rao and Manaswini Maharana, apart from Bux. “We went 68 feet deep inside the sea and spent for nearly 3.30 hours under water. During the exploration, the team came across several marine fauna,” added Bux, who is a three-time limca Book of Record holder.
As per Bux, sea fauna, hard coral and sea sponge were abundant inside the sea. Bux claimed the team explored another sunken ship and a coral reef in the Bay of Bengal. The main aim of diving into the sea is to promote tourism by exploring underwater marine fauna. The underwater marine fauna would allure tourists to undertake similar exploration in sea and have a glimpse of marine wealth, informed Bux.
Notably, the scuba diver was honored by the Ministry of Home Department (Delhi) for giving training to the National Disaster Response Force in deep sea diving, flood rescue and underwater search and recovery. He has been promoting adventure water sports like scuba diving, wind surfing and kayaking in the State.
