The mentally-deranged girl, who was rescued by the city police on Saturday night in distress condition, was admitted in the psychiatric ward of the SCB Medical College Hospital here on Sunday.
The police also sent a wireless message to their counterparts in Chhattisgarh as the 25-year-girl is claiming that she is from Gudiali village of Raipur. “The girl did not cooperate in conducting a medical examination on her,” said Mahila police station Inspector Sujata Jena on Sunday, stating that it was not confirmed whether the girl was raped or not as reported in a section of the media. The police said the girl was very incoherent in her statements putting a lot of confusions about her place of stay and the agony she has undergone. “The girl claims that she arrived in Cuttack on Saturday morning by train and also stated on record denying anyone misbehaved with her at the Cuttack railway station or anywhere else in the city,” Jena said, adding that the girl claims that she travelled by train to Howrah and also went to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Except some old injuries on her feet, no other external injuries are found in her body, Jena said, suspecting that the girl might have walked barefoot a lot and sustained the injuries. According to reports, the girl was first traced in the Buxibazaar area of the city late on Saturday evening walking in acute pain. Informed by locals, the Mahila police rescued her and immediately began investigating into the matter after registering a case.
