A day after the names of new District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents and working presidents were announced, some leaders on Sunda expressed their dissent over the ‘one-man-one post’ formula.
Khordha DCC chief Suresh Kumar Routray said the formula would deprive many senior leaders, including him, of getting tickets to contest the forthcoming elections.
Routray said, “I am not ready to accept the idea of this formula since it would even debar Niranjan Patnaik, Chiranjib Biswal, Naba Kishore Das, Bhakta Das and Pradeep Majhi from contesting election.” He further said that he has been working hard since his loss in the last elections in Jatni. If he is unable to contest the elections this time, all his efforts would be wasted.
Routray said that he would not protest if the party denies him a ticket, but contesting the 2019 Assembly elections is his last wish. “Those working on field and knowing problems of the people should be given party tickets. However if the party does not give me ticket, I will not contest the elections,” he concluded.
