Displaced villagers of 14 villages on Wednesday opposed the meeting of Mahanadi Coalfields limited (MCl) held at Meghdoot Auditorium of Basundhara Coalmines alleging that they were not intimated by the company about the meeting.
The villagers urged Sundargarh Collector BS Punia, who was present in the meeting for reschedule. They alleged that MCl Estate Manager Rajkishore Nayak without intimating them managed to mobilise a few to the meeting.
However, due to the Collector’s intervention who assured the agitating villagers for another date, the meeting was convened to discuss the displaced rehabilitation, compensation and employment.
The meet was decided that within three months the displaced villagers will be issued displace certificates, besides setting up of a rehabilitation colony at their desired location. Following the meeting, villagers submitted a memo to the Collector urging him to fix up another day of meeting. People of fourteen villagers are getting together to decide further course of action against MCl.
