The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has ordered the State Government for a probe into the illegal dismissal of five employees of the Odisha Association for the Blind, Bhubaneswar.
General secretary Sannyas Kumar Behera of the Institute of Social Work and Research, an organisation fighting for the cause of disabled persons, had moved the Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging that five employees, music teacher Ghanasyam Sahoo, Braille teacher Suresh Das, librarian Sahadev Das, computer teacher Prasant Mallick and sweeper Kalia, were dismissed illegally.
Though an FIR was lodged at the Kharavela Nagar police station in this regard, nothing tangible has happened as yet, Behera had stated in his petition.
The petitioner had also sought urgent legal intervention of the Union Home Ministry for prevention of atrocities and abuse against the blind girls at the association.
On Thursday, acting on the petition, the PMO has directed the Pension Administration Department Under Secretary for a probe and action.
