The Democratic Teachers’ Organisation (DTO) Odisha has demanded that the State Government do away with the outsourcing policy in the education sector and give recognition to computer teachers as Government employees.
At a Press meet here on Saturday, DTO president Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak said two outsourcing companies the Il and FS and the TCIl, engaged by the State Government-run OKCl, have appointed computer teachers in 27 and three districts, respectively.
“The two agencies, however, have siphoned off almost half of the Central fund. When some teachers tried to expose the matter and ask for their shares of ESI and PF money, the agencies retrenched them. This act by the outsourcing companies is highly undemocratic and condemnable,” said Nayak, adding that the Government should discard its pro-company attitude and outsourcing policy and recognise the computer teachers as Government teachers.
DTO secretary Nrusingha Charan Panda lamented that the Government is not keen to use the Central fund for fixed salaries of the 4,000 computer teachers in the State and machinery expenses for computers. As a result, the teachers are deprived of their legitimate rights.
The Government should also take strong action against the politicians, companies and officers involved in fund embezzlement, he said.
